Submission Guidelines

  • Your article should relate to the IUFRO2014 Congress Theme — Sustaining Forests, Sustaining People – The Role of Research. Forests and trees provide a wide range of environmental, economic, social, and cultural benefits to people in rural communities and urban centers worldwide. Ensure that you capture their importance as well as importance of your research or project in your submission.
  • Be creative, engaging, interesting and show your passion for the subject. Raise problems, questions, and showcase your knowledge. We’re looking for blog posts that will spread the word about IUFRO2014 and the research being presented at it to the biggest possible audience that you can reach.
  • Think globally – your research or project might be local but think of the role it can plan in a larger context. Demonstrate this if possible.
  • Your submission should not be more than 750 words in length and should be submitted in a .doc or .docx format.
  • Please include links to references in your posting. All links should be embedded using the hyperlink function.
  • All photos you wish to be included with your posting should credit the photographer and include a caption. Photos should be of good quality and preferably 600px wide. They should be compressed and attached to the e-mail. Send all files to blog@iufro.org with the subject “IUFRO2014 Blog Competition”.
  • Send your article in English, French or Spanish, however, note that for the most widespread readability, an English post will reach a more global audience.
  • At the bottom of your post ensure that you include the following with your submission:
    • Your title, first and last name;
    • Your affiliated organization, if applicable;
    • Your country of residence;
    • Which Congress theme(s) your posting relates to;
    • Whether you will be attending the Congress or not; and
    • Contact information to reach you, including:
      • E-mail
      • Phone number
      • Mailing Address
